Good afternoon. I have a problem with natural ventilation in a private house. The house is 2-storey with a basement. The hood is arranged as a single unit, these are 7 channels going from the hood to the roof (boiler, water heater, hood from the boiler room, hood from the basement, 2 hoods from the bathrooms, hood from the kitchen).

The problem is that through two channels located closer to the edge of the roof (kitchen ventilation and a gas water heater), almost always - especially in winter - back draft occurs, and cold air from the street through the ventilation channels enters the house. Can you advise how to solve this problem?

Hello! First of all, you need to check the problematic ventilation ducts for the presence of any kind of blockage.

Since you have a problem with the channels for ventilation of the kitchen and the gas water heater, the most likely reason may be the accumulation of a large amount of steam, which interferes with the normal movement of the draft.

And, since this is a private house, the problem will have to be solved independently. It will be easiest to make additional ventilation, it is best to choose options with minimal noise. This is a cardinal decision, but the most promising and reliable.
