Good day! In the production room in the ventilation chamber, an air supply unit with electric heaters was installed. Contractors made a remark that an air-handling unit with electric air heaters cannot be installed at all, only water. Tell me, please, are there such norms? Urgently needed!

Good evening. Little information on your subject. I did not find a single regulatory document prohibiting the direct installation of electric heaters, but there are many acts regulating the installation of electrical appliances in special rooms. That is, we can’t just take and place the electric heating device wherever we want and the way we want. Most likely, this is why your “contractors” are wrapping up your idea.

For an example, we turn to SP 31-110-2003 DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS OF RESIDENTIAL AND PUBLIC BUILDINGS:

“15.2 The following types of heating devices are allowed for stationary electrical heating systems for buildings: low-temperature dry and oil radiators, distributed heating devices, electric fan heaters, storage electric furnaces, heating cables, building structural elements with built-in low-temperature heating elements and electric water heaters. Heaters must have a certificate of conformity and fire safety. ”

That is, if you have such certificates, as you see, you have the right to install. But, purely theoretically. We do not know how you have it in production, but there are certain nuances of installation.

Let's look again at the joint venture:

“15.8 Heating appliances shall be located on non-combustible building structures. Allowed the location of heaters on combustible building structures provided that a layer of non-combustible heat-insulating material is installed between the heater and the structure. Heating radiators should be located mainly under the window openings.

15.9 Heating devices used in electric heating systems with a temperature of more than 75 ° C should be fenced with gratings made of non-combustible materials or other design measures should be applied to prevent touching or getting household items directly on the device.

15.10. In the designs of electric heat supply systems, the sizes of heating appliances, methods of their installation and fastening shall be indicated.

15.11 The temperature of the outer surface of the elements of the electric heat supply system in the most heated place in normal operation should not exceed, ° C:

    Heating heating device - 85.
    Wire insulation - 65.
    Water heater - 90.

15.12 In rooms of public buildings equipped with automatic fire extinguishing systems, it is necessary to provide for automatic shutdown of electric heat supply when the fire extinguishing systems are triggered.

15.13 The distance from electric heating devices to combustible materials G2-G4 shall be at least 0.3 m. ”

And so on, you can easily find documents yourself. There are many of them - SNIPs, GOSTs, PB. Just like that, the contractor will not be capricious in any case. But here we are guessing on the coffee grounds, not knowing what kind of room you have there, what sizes, what you produce, what design. Either enlighten us in the comments in detail or ask the contractor to document your claim.

    Good luck
