The fan of the Polaris split system turns off, what could it be?

The split system is called POLARIS, it is about 5 years old. At the beginning of the hot season, it was cleaned and pressure checked.

However, a malfunction was revealed: during operation, after a rather long time, the fan turns off, and the compressor continues to work with increasing noise. Moreover, the lower T, the sooner this happens! The question is - does the compressor shutdown relay not work or does the fan thermal fuse trip? Normal operation time is not enough to completely cool the room.

    Hello!

First of all, check the settings, perhaps you yourself have set a mode of operation in which the fan turns off. For example, in the “Sleep” mode, the fan turns off after 6 hours after the start of the air conditioner, in the “Dry” mode - after 1-2 hours. The best option is to reset all split system settings to factory defaults. For all POLARIS models, this is done the same way: by pressing the Reset button on the remote control.

If the problem persists after a reboot, then there may be several reasons for this behavior of the air conditioner:

    1. Unstable operation of the temperature sensor. The split system control unit does not receive ambient temperature data from the sensor, therefore it turns off the fan. It is difficult to accurately detect such a malfunction: with a non-working sensor, the fan turns off after 1-2 minutes after turning on the device, and your shutdown occurs after a long time, i.e. the sensor is basically working.

    2. Problems with the control unit. I do not want to upset you, but the symptoms you describe are inherent in this particular breakdown. If the control unit malfunctions, the air conditioner seems to work, but it behaves strangely: the fan turns on / off, compressor protection is activated, indicators blink, etc. You can diagnose a breakdown by checking all the “tracks” on the chip. If a failure is detected, a flashing or a complete replacement of the control unit is performed.

In any case, your assumptions about a non-working compressor shutdown relay or a tripped fan thermal fuse are not the causes, but the consequences of the malfunction.
