What heating scheme to take as a basis for a two-story building?

Good day! In a two-story building, a gas boiler “Baxi” is installed on the old heating system. We plan to replace the old heating system (replacing all water pipes and radiators). The first floor is a semi-basement, the second floor with high ceilings.

I ask for an example of a thermal circuit for such a building. We are considering options where the existence of two independent circuits is possible: 1st floor and 2nd floor. Perhaps it makes sense to mount the so-called “hydraulic arrow”? Thanks in advance for examples!

Hello! For a two-story building, you can offer three schemes: one-and two-pipe, collector.

The first of them is simple and low-cost, but the radiators will warm up unevenly, especially on the ground floor. But you can perform hidden pipe laying. So as a budget option, you can consider scheme 1 (see the attached image).

The device of a two-pipe system will cost more, but in all radiators a coolant with the same temperature is supplied directly from the boiler. At the same time, the presence of thermal heads and taps eliminates pressure problems. You have to choose here between horizontal and vertical wiring. If the house was built using panel-frame technology and has a large area, then you need to choose the first option, because the implementation of the second will be difficult. In other cases, you can prefer vertical wiring. It is easier to operate, moreover, air jams are not formed in it.

The two-pipe version allows you to set the desired temperature in each room through a special valve. Since you have a basement on the ground floor, this scheme 2 will be optimal (see attached images). The choice of this scheme will make it possible to arrange two independent circuits.

The device of the heating system by this principle involves a large flow of coolant. In such powerful systems, as a rule, a high dynamic pressure is observed, in order to avoid unbalancing of the equipment, it is advisable to use a special hydraulic arrow. Her presence neutralizes the contours from dynamic effects on each other.
