What to do if the bacteria die in the septic tank Topop-4?

I have two aeration systems - Topop 4 and Topop 5. The fifth one works without problems (shower, washing, toilet, washing machine), but the fourth one is problematic - bacteria periodically die and smell (everything else works fine).

Specialists checked and cleaned periodically. By the 4th comes a kitchen sink, a hand sink on the street, a dishwasher and a toilet, but because it (second toilet), then it loads less.

Now from May 8-10 people have been living permanently, but by winter it will be 3-4 constantly, on weekends up to 10, but rarely. The question is what to do with the lack of income of the so-called “food” in the four? Thanks in advance for the advice.

    Good afternoon!

    Judging by your description, you have an extinction of bacteria. The cause of the extinction, most likely, was one of two factors:

    1) lack of food;
    2) poisoning by chemicals.

    With a lack of food, the septic tank does not go into alkaline mode, but continues to work in acidic mode, i.e. in the aeration tank does not accumulate a sufficient amount of sludge for the normal reproduction of bacteria. From here there is an unpleasant smell.

    It’s good if you can open the aeration tank and determine by the appearance of the mass of bacteria what caused their death. The light brown color of the mass indicates poisoning by food waste: rotten vegetables or fruits. Gray color indicates poisoning with chemicals: chlorine, washing powder, etc.

    To return the septic tank to work, you need to populate and successfully propagate a new colony of bacteria. You can try to do this without cleaning the septic tank, but a successful result is not guaranteed. The best option is the complete emptying and pumping of the septic tank with a suction tank while cleaning all the drain pipes. After pumping, you need to leave the septic tank to dry for 2-3 days. Then the septic tank is filled with water and bacteria are colonized in it. It is advisable to use high-quality starting bacteria designed for the first start of the septic tank. Read more about bacteria for septic tanks this article.

    So that the colony does not die again, follow two simple rules:

    1) Do not drain hazardous bacteria chemicals into the sewer without first cleaning.
    2) Make sure that bacteria always have food.

    For the Topop-4 septic tank, 8-10 people are able to provide microorganisms with food.In a period when natural nutrition is not enough, you need to top up special biological products for feeding bacteria. The most important criterion for the success of a septic tank is smell. After the colonization of a new colony, the smell should disappear after 10-14 days. If the odor reappears, immediately feed the bacteria. The smell appeared and did not disappear - the bacteria died, the septic tank needs to be cleaned and colonized with new microorganisms.
